Trust me, this is a doozy of a new goal for my Bucket List!

It’s another one which I don’t even know if I’ll ever complete – but I hope I do and it’s got me quite excited at the prospect of it.

I’m sure many would find this easy and there’s probably a whole load of people who have done it already – but this will be a real challenge for me, then again, aren’t they all?

So, the new goal I have set for myself…drum roll please…

Read a book that is set from every country in the world – If I can’t get myself around the world, at least my imagination can go there!

I can already cross a couple off at least – England about 20 times with all the Jane Austin, Bridget Jones and Harry Potters – to a name a few.

I would love to travel the world, but I know full-well that it’s not going to happen. It’s not a possibility in my life, and as sad as that may be, it’s true and all I can do is see what of it I can. The rest of it I can see through stories of these fabulous places.

Right, so the lists of the countries of the world that I have found – vary – some greatly, some not so. I have, therefore, settled for one that includes the disputed countries and will make my way through it.

  1. Wow! I really like this idea, I might put it on my list. Here are some suggestions of books I’ve read and liked:

China – Revolution is Not a Dinner Party by Ying Chang Compestine, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

China & USA – The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

France – Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

France, Italy, Mediterranean islands – The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo

Germany – I Was There by Hans Peter Richter

Iran – Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi

Russia (Moscow during the time of the USSR) & Israel – The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

UK (Scotland) – Macbeth by William Shakespeare

USA – Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, I Heard the Owl Call My Name by Margaret Craven (takes place in a Native American village)

This person read books written by authors in each country, so the books could take place in other countries, but it gives you a starting place if you’re having trouble finding book ideas.

    • Yeah add it to yours too, why not! This is a great list, thank you so much for taking the time to write it! I love it, such a great mix Shakespeare and beyond! I actually have Labyrinth in my pile of books to read – so that’s great! And I’ll def look into other ones too. Thanks again and good luck for adding it to your bucket list too : ) x
